The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a sharp critique against both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of working together after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi conducted a protest near the Prime Minister’s residence concerning the NEET controversy. This allegation comes amid a backdrop of student-led demonstrations demanding accountability over a NEET paper leak.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh claimed that the government’s decision to allow Rahul Gandhi’s protest was a strategic move designed to distract from the broader student movement. He argued that this action undermined the larger public campaign seeking transparency and accountability for the NEET issue.
Adding to the critique, Atishi, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, questioned the government’s approach, highlighting a perceived inconsistency in how protests are handled. She noted that while student protesters and activists have faced restrictions and police action during demonstrations near Parliament, Rahul Gandhi was permitted to protest near the Prime Minister’s residence and received a prompt response from the government.
The situation escalated when Union Minister Jitendra Singh visited the protest site to meet with Rahul Gandhi, affirming the government’s willingness to discuss NEET-related issues in Parliament. Despite this, the protest concluded with the police detaining Rahul Gandhi along with several Congress MPs, a move that further fueled the controversy.
This incident has exposed deepening rifts among opposition parties, with the AAP accusing Congress of inadvertently aiding the BJP by diverting attention away from the student movement.
