China Urges Enhanced India Cooperation to Strengthen Growing Bilateral Ties

In a recent meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for China and India to bolster their cooperation and sustain the positive momentum in their bilateral relations. During discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Wang highlighted the importance of enhancing high-level exchanges and expanding collaboration across various sectors including trade, media, and culture. He also stressed the significance of managing sensitive issues through dialogue and called for more robust coordination in regional and international matters.

Wang Yi underscored the potential for China and India to work jointly in promoting multipolarity and representing the interests of developing nations on the world stage. Additionally, he reaffirmed China’s support for India as it prepares to host the upcoming BRICS summit, advocating for stronger cooperation within the enlarged BRICS framework.

On India’s part, Jaishankar expressed a commitment to fostering a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He reiterated India’s established positions on Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), affirming India’s respect for China’s sovereignty over these regions.

This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts by both countries to stabilize and deepen their relationship following notable recent improvements. The dialogue between Wang and Jaishankar reflects a mutual desire to address existing challenges and explore opportunities for further collaboration.
