Father and NEET Aspirant Protest in Delhi Over OMR Issue

Date:

Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate, and her father, former soldier Rakesh Singh, have traveled to Delhi to protest outside the office of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Their demonstration follows the NTA’s rejection of claims that Arya’s examination results were tampered with. The agency has dismissed allegations from several candidates, stating that discrepancies between the results and the OMR answer sheets are due to fabrications, digital alterations, or artificial intelligence-generated images, which do not align with official records.

Arya Singh, hailing from Kanpur, contends that her score in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination was altered post-announcement. She asserts that her original score was 570 marks, which was later inexplicably changed to 167. Arya also points out issues with the OMR sheet provided by the NTA, highlighting a missing question number and duplicate serial numbers. After lodging objections, she received a different OMR sheet from the agency, which indicated a score of 609 marks.

Rakesh Singh has expressed dissatisfaction with the NTA’s explanation and vows to continue their protest until they receive satisfactory responses. He has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and address what he perceives as irregularities in the examination process. The NTA, however, maintains its stance, emphasizing that all original OMR sheets are consistent with the declared scores and that the official examination documents are secured with identifiers like barcodes and QR codes.

The ongoing controversy is tied to the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination conducted on June 21, following the cancellation of the initial exam in May due to alleged paper leaks. The Central Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the matter to uncover the full extent of any potential discrepancies. Despite the NTA’s denial of the allegations, the Singh family’s protest highlights the broader concerns among candidates about the integrity of the examination process.
