Delhi Launches ₹13,800 Crore Initiative for Infrastructure and Welfare Improvements

Date:

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi government is set to commence a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative called the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan on September 17. This month-long campaign aims to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service and will involve the inauguration and commencement of various projects with an estimated value of ₹13,800 crore across the capital city.

The campaign will kick off with a significant blood donation drive on September 17, aiming to collect 2,500 units. Additionally, there will be a strong focus on organ donation promotion, alongside health check-ups specifically targeting senior citizens. Throughout all 70 assembly constituencies, the government plans to conduct registration camps for various welfare schemes, sanitation initiatives, and efforts to clean the Yamuna River.

In a bid to engage different segments of the community, the initiative will honor over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers for their contributions. It will also feature activities for students and young individuals across approximately 5,000 schools. These activities include painting and speech competitions, as well as an innovation challenge aimed at fostering ideas for India’s development.

Project-wise, the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan has an extensive agenda. It includes ₹8,000 crore allocated for Delhi Jal Board initiatives, ₹2,800 crore for Public Works Department (PWD) projects, ₹1,500 crore for power-sector developments, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood-control projects, and ₹77 crore dedicated to tourism enhancements. Notably, initiatives related to the Yamuna will see investments of around ₹8,000 crore during this campaign period.
