Delhi-NCR Relief as Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Hit; IMD Alerts Region

Date:

Intense thunderstorms and heavy rain swept through parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday, offering much-needed relief from the region’s recent extreme heatwave. Dark clouds enveloped the skies as gusty winds and rain showers impacted several areas, providing a temporary respite from the scorching temperatures.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next two days, cautioning residents about the potential for more rain, thunderstorms, and possible disruptions. The advisory urges people to stay informed through official weather updates and to take necessary precautions during these adverse conditions to ensure safety.

In a related development, the IMD has also declared the onset of the southwest monsoon over Kerala, signaling the start of India’s annual four-month rainy season. The monsoon has arrived within the predicted timeframe set by the weather department and is anticipated to gradually progress to other parts of the country over the coming weeks.

The showers in Delhi-NCR are expected to bring down temperatures, offering some comfort after several days of intense summer heat. Residents in the region are hopeful that these weather changes will improve living conditions as they contend with the challenges of the season.
