Opsio, a Swedish company specializing in cloud and artificial intelligence, has introduced PrismIQ, a cutting-edge automated visual inspection service aimed at revolutionizing quality control in manufacturing. This innovative technology is first being launched in India, with plans for a broader global rollout. PrismIQ leverages industrial cameras and deep-learning models specifically trained to identify defects in manufacturers’ products, such as surface imperfections, cracks, contamination, dimensional inconsistencies, and assembly errors, all in real-time during the production process.
The system is integrated with edge hardware positioned directly on production lines, enabling swift processing of inspection results without relying solely on manual checks. The data generated by PrismIQ can link to existing PLC and SCADA infrastructure, facilitating automated sorting and decision-making on production lines. This approach aims to overcome the limitations of manual inspections, especially on high-speed manufacturing lines where examining each product individually can be challenging. Opsio’s active-learning system further enhances detection models by utilizing production data over time.
PrismIQ is unique in that it is offered as a comprehensive end-to-end service. Opsio oversees the entire process, including the configuration of cameras, lenses, and lighting, development and validation of models, integration with factory systems, and ongoing operations. The service also provides operator training, quality dashboards, and regular performance reviews. A typical implementation can transition from feasibility assessment to production deployment within a timeframe of eight to 12 weeks.
India was chosen for the initial launch due to its rapidly growing manufacturing sector and Opsio’s existing presence in the region, including an AI Lab in Bengaluru dedicated to developing and testing industrial AI applications. Engineered from Opsio’s headquarters in Karlstad, Sweden, PrismIQ initially targets manufacturers in the automotive, electronics, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors.
