Blue Jays Spark Momentum with Gritty Comebacks Against Red Sox

Date:

TORONTO – After a rocky stretch in April, the Toronto Blue Jays may have found the spark they needed. Back-to-back comeback wins against the Boston Red Sox have not only lifted team morale but also reignited belief in the power of momentum.

Trailing by seven runs on Wednesday and two on Thursday, the Jays rallied both times, capping off the series with a 4-2 win. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. delivered the game-winning blow Thursday with a three-run homer in the eighth inning, turning a 2-1 deficit into Toronto’s first lead of the night.

Manager John Schneider believes these emotional victories could be a turning point. “Momentum is real in this game,” he said. “One swing can change everything—like it did yesterday, like it did today.”

Guerrero echoed that mindset: “We never give up. If you don’t believe in a comeback, it won’t happen. You have to think it to make it real.”

Toronto had endured an 11-game stretch without scoring more than four runs and had fallen in the standings due to multiple losing streaks. Wednesday’s late-game surge was fueled by Anthony Santander’s three-run homer and Alejandro Kirk’s walk-off RBI in extra innings. Now with 15 wins and 16 losses, the Jays sit third in the AL East, just behind Boston.

Looking ahead, Chris Bassitt (2-2) will start Friday as Toronto continues its homestand against the Cleveland Guardians, with Logan Allen (1-2) starting for the visitors.
