PM Modi Hosts Japan’s Sanae Takaichi in India for Annual Summit

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has commenced her inaugural official visit to India, touching down in New Delhi for a three-day stay. The visit features significant discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, a strategic meeting designed to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.

At the summit, the leaders are set to explore cooperation in pivotal areas such as trade, investment, defense, technology, and regional security. A critical component of their dialogue will be assessing the progress of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, an initiative aimed at deepening collaboration between Tokyo and New Delhi.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his pleasure at hosting Prime Minister Takaichi, highlighting the significance of her first visit to India. He anticipated comprehensive discussions that would strengthen bilateral ties and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to foster peace, stability, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that the summit represents an opportunity for both countries to broaden their cooperation across various sectors. It also allows for an exchange of views on regional and global issues of shared interest, reinforcing the strategic partnership between India and Japan.
