Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has created flood-like conditions in parts of Chhattisgarh, India, severely affecting normal life in the Raipur and Durg districts. The rising water levels in the Kharun River have led to significant waterlogging, submerging several roads and riverside villages.
In Raipur, the road connecting Raipur, Patan, and Durg through Mahadev Ghat has been particularly impacted, causing disruptions to traffic. The Raipur-Bhilai route via Mahadev Ghat is also experiencing severe waterlogging, making travel difficult.
Amleshwar and Khudmuda villages in the Durg district are among the worst affected areas, where strong water currents have submerged roads, hindering movement for the residents.
The situation has raised alarms as further rainfall and thunderstorms are forecasted for the region. This raises concerns about continued water accumulation in low-lying and riverside areas, potentially exacerbating the current conditions.
