Trump Reveals Deal on Hamas Disarmament; Awaiting Israel’s Confirmation

Date:

President Donald Trump has revealed what he calls a “historic” agreement aimed at achieving the complete disarmament of Hamas, marking a significant step toward resolving the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Announced via social media, the deal outlines a plan for Hamas to gradually dismantle its military capabilities, including the destruction of its tunnel network and the surrender of heavy weapons, all under the watch of international supervisors. In exchange, Israeli forces would execute a phased withdrawal from Gaza, with an international stabilization force and a new Palestinian security administration assuming responsibility for maintaining peace and order in the region.

Although the Israeli government and Hamas have yet to officially confirm the agreement, reports suggest that Hamas has tentatively accepted the framework. Preparations for the disarmament process are anticipated to begin within 14 days, contingent upon international approval and consensus among all parties involved. The proposal also stipulates a complete cessation of military operations before the disarmament efforts commence, with the dismantling of heavy weapons, tunnels, and military infrastructure to follow under the supervision of an international verification committee.

However, the Israeli government has not officially endorsed the proposal. Israeli officials maintain that the complete disarmament and demilitarization of Gaza remains a prerequisite for any broader agreement, emphasizing that the current proposal falls short of meeting their security demands. The ongoing military operations in Gaza further underscore the uncertainties surrounding the implementation of any potential agreement.

In light of these developments, the path forward remains uncertain, with the continued military actions in the region highlighting the challenges in reaching a comprehensive and lasting peace agreement. The international community closely watches these diplomatic efforts, hoping for a resolution that addresses both security concerns and humanitarian needs in Gaza.
