England Dominates India by 125 Runs, Seizes 2-0 T20 Series Lead

Date:

England claimed a commanding 125-run victory over India in the second T20I, marking their largest margin of victory in T20 internationals and taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Chasing a target of 202, India’s initial aggressive strategy quickly unraveled as England’s pace bowlers dismantled their lineup, leaving India all out for 76 in fewer than 12 overs.

Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue were instrumental in England’s success, with Tongue securing four wickets and Archer delivering pivotal early breakthroughs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan were India’s highest scorers, each managing just 13 runs, underscoring the visitors’ batting collapse. Post-match, India’s captain Shreyas Iyer acknowledged the poor performance, while head coach Gautam Gambhir defended the team’s aggressive approach, emphasizing its past successes.

Earlier in the match, England overcame a cautious start to set a formidable total of 201 runs. Phil Salt played a key role with a stellar 70 off 44 balls after a slow beginning, while Sam Curran contributed an unbeaten 41 from 24 balls, helping propel England past the 200-run threshold.

With this decisive win, England is now just one victory away from securing the series. Meanwhile, India finds itself in a must-win position for the remaining matches to keep the series alive.
